ECHO █ █ IN SHORT: This level is made into 3 sections, the ID section, the NINE █ █
ECHO █ █ INCH NAILS section, and finally, the QUAKE section. Each █ █
ECHO █ █ part is marked by its respective door. Also note that if you █ █
ECHO █ █ want to live, enter certain buildings at certain times. If █ █
ECHO █ █ you simply aimlessly wander, you are dead meat! :O █ █
ECHO █ █ ====================================================================== █ █
ECHO █ █ ENGINE LIMITATIONS: (1) The shorter buildings will cut up the hi-rise █ █
ECHO █ █ buildings if you're near them, or stand in spots. █ █
ECHO █ █ this is why the hi-rises are the same height. █ █
ECHO █ █ (2) The elevator is jerky between floors. This is █ █
ECHO █ █ because you can only move them up to 2 stories at █ █
ECHO █ █ a time, but 1 story climbs were used so that the █ █
ECHO █ █ "number strip" works. Between floors, it'll stop █ █
ECHO █ █ and start. Make it smoother, car destroys itself. █ █

ECHO █ █ The Stupid Story Behind the Stupid HeXeN Add-on: █ █

ECHO █ █ Duke Nukem's been to Los Angeles, fighting off those LAPD pigs and █ █
ECHO █ █ all of his other space creature foes. Of course, Duke was victorious. █ █
ECHO █ █ However, in another portion of the city, the ultimate terror has come. █ █
ECHO █ █ Korax heard about the space invasion of Los Angeles, so he thought it █ █
ECHO █ █ would be a GREAT idea to put all of his scientists together to create █ █
ECHO █ █ a teleport to travel ahead in time to some time into the near future, █ █
ECHO █ █ in an already devistated, OJ Stenched Los Angeles. █ █
ECHO █ █ Once Duke heard that another force hit another part of town, being █ █
ECHO █ █ as brave as he is, he went there to see who was doing what. He never █ █
ECHO █ █ met the kind like Korax and his Motley Crue. Although Korax was still █ █
ECHO █ █ in Medevil-Land, he enjoyed watching his troops dispose Nukem in a █ █
ECHO █ █ clean, fast manner, leaving no traces of him behind. █ █
ECHO █ █ There's only 3 people that can possibly end the terror in LA. Some █ █
ECHO █ █ Fighter guy, a Clergyman, and a Mage, and since they know Korax's min- █ █
ECHO █ █ ions, unlike Duke, they know what to do, to end LA's terror. █ █

ECHO █ █ In this portion of Los Angles, you'll have to explore several of █ █
ECHO █ █ the buildings to unlock the entire puzzle, and to uncover the EXIT █ █
ECHO █ █ teleporter inside the condemned, boarded up hi-rise. To do this, you █ █
ECHO █ █ need to enter certain buildings (or portions) at certain times. If █ █
ECHO █ █ you visit the wrong buildings in the wrong order, you will basically █ █
ECHO █ █ die. It'll take a few tries to figure out where to go. █ █
ECHO █ █ Don't waste your time reading the marques to see what movies are █ █
ECHO █ █ playing in the theater, becuse you've got lots of company to wipe out! █ █
ECHO █ █ There are many HERESIARCH (Black hooded beasts with mana floating █ █
ECHO █ █ overhead) here, and you don't have the mana (and possibly memory) to █ █
ECHO █ █ fight them. They'll follow you, but just "ignore" them. █ █
ECHO █ █ SOMEWHERE in this level is a secret teleport to the "Secret Build- █ █
ECHO █ █ ing" in this level (building with bricked up doorways). Can you find █ █
ECHO █ █ it? I don't give locations away. :D █ █

ECHO █ █ NOTES ON ELEVATOR IN HOTEL, AND OTHER THINGS: █ █

ECHO █ █ The scripts for the elevator, well, used to suck. Now it'll work █ █
ECHO █ █ JUST FINE in any mode of play, including those who play MULTI PLAYER █ █
ECHO █ █ mode, and all in DEATHMATCH too. This rewritten elevator thing is in- █ █
ECHO █ █ deed SOLID! (AOL-ers, including those on the REoL TOUGH Mailing List, █ █
ECHO █ █ should know this level, in v1.0 form, has been out for two weeks. But █ █
ECHO █ █ someone found the first version was screwed up, so here's v2.0, FIXED! █ █
ECHO █ █ SLIGHT memory reduction too! May POSSIBLY never crash, but it's there. █ █
ECHO █ █ Becuase of the VERY SLIGHT possibility of running out of memory, █ █
ECHO █ █ the elevator script was not fixed up. Also, I didn't bother putting in █ █
ECHO █ █ earthquakes, nor did I add any dazzling FX when you detonate the con- █ █
ECHO █ █ demned building. It just falls to the ground. Believe it or not, it's █ █
ECHO █ █ the BIG animated graphic scenes (OJ Chase, and the theater Marquees) █ █
ECHO █ █ that's the culprit. As mentioned, BARE BOOT your system if you have 8 █ █
ECHO █ █ megs of RAM, or 16 with OS/2 and Winbug 95. 16 is recommended for 100%% █ █
ECHO █ █ savability (24 with other OS's). Savability at 8MB: 99.99%% reliable. █ █
